All about TCS NQT - National Qualifier Test

What is TCS National Qualifier Test?
India's largest multinational IT service and consulting company, TCS, brought a major change in its recruitment pattern in 2018. In order to give an equal opportunity to technical graduates and post graduates across the country, TCS conducts a National Qualifier Test (NQT) for various roles. NQT is an online test after which the students have to appear for personal interviews - technical, managerial and HR.
TCS Recruitment Strategy
TCS NQT is conducted to select the top talent for four major roles. These roles can be categorized as per the colleges as well as the candidate’s performance.
TCS Innovator
The top students from the best colleges are chosen for this role. It mainly involves the profile of product developers, who may also join TCS Innovation Labs. The average salary package for this category is 9-11 LPA.
TCS Digital
In 2018, NQT for digital role was conducted only for the top colleges of India. The exam was held in July and resulted in a fresher intake of 400. This year, TCS Digital hiring is open to all the colleges. The average salary package for this profile is 7-8 LPA.

TCS Ninja
TCS Ninja NQT is conducted for multi-functional and multi-skilled roles (development/ maintanence/ support). Eligible candidates from all the colleges are chosen once they pass the test. The average salary package for this category is 3.5-4 LPA. Last year, TCS Ninja received a huge response from students; with almost 2.8 lakh registrations across 100 cities in India. Additionally, the best performers of the test also get a chance to go for TCS Digital role. The exam was held in September and resulted in a massive intake of 30000+. This year, TCS NQT is set to be conducted on June 16, 2019.
TCS Smart 
TCS Smart Hiring is exclusively conducted for BSc and BCA graduates. This year, TCS Smart Hiring Assessment Test was conducted in January. The selected students are invited to TCS training program called 'Ignite'. This program is devised to transform the graduates to full-fledged IT professionals. The average salary package for this profile is 2.5-3 LPA.
Who can appear for TCS NQT?
For TCS Digital and TCS Ninja, graduates/postgraduates of all engineering streams or postgraduates with MSc in CS/IT can apply for NQT. Additionally, BSc/BCA graduates and MCA postgraduates with Mathematics/Statistics Background can also apply.
Students from top engineering colleges usually get directly recruited for TCS Innovator role.
What is the exam structure of NQT?
TCS Ninja/Digital NQT is a 90 minutes online test with four sections- English, Quantitative Aptitude, Programming Concepts and Coding. There is sectional time limit allotted to each section. The level of difficulty of TCS Digital NQT is higher than that of TCS Ninja NQT.
TCS Smart Hiring Assessment Test is a 2 hours online test covering general aptitude and programming ability.
