The written exam conducted by HCL Technologies for selection is moderate to difficult. The exam has around 60 questions from English Language, Analytical Ability, Quantitative Ability and Technical sections with a time allotment of 60 minutes in total. The English Language section (around 15 questions) consists of short reading comprehensions and questions on grammar usage like prepositions, antonyms, synonyms, sentence completion and vocabulary. The Analytical section (around 15 questions) will test the candidate on data interpretation and logical reasoning skills. The questions will also be based on puzzles, blood relations, statements & arguments, coding decoding, data sufficiency, pattern recognition, deductive logic, statement-assumption etc. Quantitative Ability section (around 15 questions) consists of questions based on mathematical topics such as algebra, time & work, time, speed & distance, arithmetic, percentages, profit & loss, geometry, etc. Technical Ability (around 25 questions) section involves questions from Programming & Algorithm development, Structure & Constructs of Computer Programs, Data structures & Basic algorithms and Object Oriented Programming concepts. There is no negative marking in the exam.
