ITC Limited is an Indian industry headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The company was established on 24 August 1910 as the the Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited but but later on, it was named as the the Indian Tobacco Company Limitedin 1970. ITC is divided into four segments. These are: Fast- Moving Consumer Goods, Hotels, Agri Business & Information Technology and Packaging & Paperboards. Earlier, it did business mainly with tobacco industry but after 1970, it enlarged into non tobacco businesses.ITC produces products like cigarettes, foods, lifestyle apparel, personal care products, stationery, safety matches and agarbattis, paperboards, packaging and printing and many more.
ITC took the initiative to design “e- choupal” providing the internet available to rural areas. It was launched in order to provide internet access to Indian farmers. The capability of e-Choupal is additionally being tried through pilot extends in medicinal services, instructive administrations, water administration and steers wellbeing administration. As of July 2016, the company serves 65,000 e- Choupal in more than 10 states in about 40,000 villages. In 2008, it was recognized as a “Innovations to make markets more inclusive for the poor” by the World Bank.
