SSC-CGL presents an opportunity for fresh graduates to enter the government job offering decent lifestyle and job satisfaction. Over the last years, around 2 crore applicants applied for 90,000 jobs in the Railways, 23 lakh for 368 peon’s jobs in UP, 25 lakh for 6000 Group D jobs in Bengal, 2 lakh for 1137 vacancies for the post of police constables in Maharashtra and so on. On one side, these numbers from the last few years highlight the scarcity of jobs in many parts of India, but on another, they show the sustained power of government jobs.
Demand for government jobs shows preference for permanency in job, job security, time for family, value for money, comfort with good salary, perks and perquisites, and most importantly, for power , respect and rewards.
